The Straddie Assault is held annually by the Point Lookout Boardriders Club and is Australia’s longest running teams surfing competition. 16 of Australia’s premier clubs based between Noosa and Lennox Heads are invited to participate. Teams of 10 riders represent their clubs, including junior and senior competitors. Several previous participants have gone on to compete on the World Surfing Tour including Bede Durbridge and Joel Parkinson.
The Straddie Assault provides spectators with the opportunity to watch some great surfing while enjoying a weekend at Straddie. It’s not a ticketed event – it’s free and is held on different beaches at Point Lookout depending on where the best conditions are on the day (usually Main or Cylinder Beach). Beach signage will advise where the event is being held.
The dates for 2014 will be announced soon.
